Andy Warhol was a member of Associated Artists of Pittsburgh in 1948 and 1949. His painting. I Like Dance and his print Dance in Black and White were included in the annual exhibition in 1948. In 1949, Warhol's painting The Broad Gave Me My Face, But I Can Pick My Own Nose was rejected for the annual exhibition of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. Juror George Grosz, the German artist, was said to have praised the work. It was later included in a student exhibition at Pittsburgh's Arts and Crafts Center.

A commemorative spoof of Andy Warhol being a pop artist depicted by an A & W Root Beer bottle with his brief achievements as labeled ingredients

A digital spoof of the commercial merchandise of his style selling today since his death. Also, this jigsaw puzzle box is a tribute piece whereby it is a time capsule of sealed enclosed items.

"PhotoSHOPPING the Pop Legend's Epitaph" by Gary Zak With actual photographs taken of Warhol's gravesite, my intent was to blur the distinctions of what's real with creative manipulation in Adobe Photoshop software. For example, the Coke bottles and Campbell's soup cans were actually placed on the grave while the other elements were digitally inserted into the shot. I want to push or alter the final composition to look more like hand painted rendering than a photograph. My main focus was to capture his achievements and add my own spoofs of the merchandise marketing of Warhol as modern day cultural items such as the A&W root beer. Finally , as my age advances, this project deals with my own mortality issue and the anxiety surrounding it. No one gets out of this world alive.
