Andy Warhol was featured on a new commemorative postage stamp issued in Pittsburgh by the United States Postal Service.

In the mid 1960s, Warhol adopted the band The Velvet Underground, making them a crucial element of the Exploding Plastic Inevitable multimedia performance art show. It was released by Verve Records in March 1967. The album cover was famous for its Warhol design: a bright yellow banana with "Peel slowly and see" printed near a perforated tab. Those who did remove the banana skin found a pink, peeled banana beneath.
